Electus hosts digital debate
Mervyn Levin, Head of Digital Content at the DTI was Electus’ guest speaker at the most recent sectoral dinner.
Mervyn was joined by key opinion formers within the digital media industry including senior figures from Vodafone, Phillips Consumer Electronics and the Community Broadband Network.
This intimate event gave all guests the chance to hear Mervyn’s experience within both the private and public sectors and question him openly on Government ideas and schemes as well as voicing their opinions. The guests all appreciated Mervyn’s honesty and found there was “interesting discussion - at times hard-hitting” which was greatly appreciated.
The conversation covered how the large corporations are the most far advanced in terms of digital development and also how they interact with the international market, to which some guests were concerned of the value of British ideas and innovation. Discussion also focussed on the detail of the government’s funding plans and how most effectively the government could work with British industry to gain the most for both parties. Another point raised was the importance of secondments; to really enable to bridge the gap between the processes of the government and the fast paced realities of corporate organisations.
We would like to thank Mervyn and all the guests for their insightful questions and comments in what proved to be both a knowledgeable sector tool and a learning curve for all concerned.
